I want to thank all those who took part in our Santa Claus Parade in Petawawa on Nov. 18 and a special thank you to Arthur, Sheena and Darlene for helping get the float decorated. Arthur also used his truck to pull the float. Thanks to Civitans Donna Forget, Darlene Lambert, Brian Miner and Millie Hall for giving out the candy to the children. Others who took part were Aaryana, Xavia, Verity, Marie and Bill Arnold. Glad it was not too cold or windy this year.

The Greater Petawawa Civitan Club is now selling their famous Christmas cakes. You can get them at our Bingo or see one of our members and they will get them for you. You may also pick up one or more of our cakes at the ESSO gas station in Petawawa. The Silver Threads Seniors Club in Petawawa and the Post Office. We will be at Rona in Petawawa on Dec. 7 and 8 then again on the 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The cost of the cake is $5 a pound or three pounds for $14. We have both light and dark cake and you can ask to have a mixed box. We also have recipes that go with the cakes, they also make great cookies and other desserts. Remember when you support the Greater Petawawa Civitan Bingo you are helping them to support so many people who need help, and when you help others, you are being a hero to someone. Thank you to all who supported the Greater Petawawa Civitan Club Bingo and other events over the years. You have become someone’s hero. Hope to see you the Bingo Sunday night. Have a great week and keep smiling. You may call me at 613-687-8463 if you would like some cake or if you would like to come and join our great Club.

To make the Claxton Fruit Cake Cookies here is what you need: one pound Claxton Fruit cake, one box white or spice cake mix, two eggs, half-cup cooking oil. Places cake mix, eggs, and oil in large bowl and mix well. Dice fruit cake into small pieces and add to mixture. Mix well by hand. Cover cookie sheet with oil. Place mixture on sheet by spoonful and bake 12-15 minutes at 350. Do not overbake! Yields five to seven dozen cookies.

Thought for the week: Remember helping others can make you happy.

That’s all for now, God bless and be happy.
