Santa Claus arrived in Petawawa on Nov. 18. Hosted by the Pembroke/Petawawa Lions Club, the annual Petawawa Santa Claus Parade delighted the hundreds of people who lined the town’s streets to watch.

A tradition for the past 33 years, the parade departed the Wolfe Plaza, traveling along Mohns Avenue, Doran Road, Herman Street to Murphy Road, finishing at the Petawawa Civic Centre, where Santa held court inside.

Though many walking in the parade handed out candy and gifts to the children in the crowd, the event was also an opportunity to collect donations for local food banks as well as the 2 Service Battalion Trucker’s Toy Drive.

Prizes were awarded to the top floats - Laurentian Valley Skating Trail won the Most Traditional Float Award while the Most Original Award was given to the Renfrew County ATV Club.

The Best Parade Theme Award was given to Hyska’s Your Independent Grocers as it best followed the ‘It’s An Ottawa Valley Christmas’ theme.

The much-coveted Best Overall Float Award was given to Waito Homes.
