Riverview Seniors Residence 37th annual Christmas Celebrations

By Dolly Currie

Posted on Thursday January 16, 2020

Residents at the Riverview Seniors Residence were delighted with Santa’s annual visit. He came early from the North Pole on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 for the traditional 37th annual Riverview Christmas Dinner and Party.

The evening and the gifts were made possible through the planning and organization of Dolly and Greg Currie and among those offering their time and talents to the gathering were Eva Brushett and Joan O’Zon, who were Santa’s Elves. Eva Brushett, Joan O’Zon, Pracilia Beaune and Joy Khule assisted Dolly in setting up and decorating the tables in the room in a festive motif prior to this event, which set the Christmas spirit.

Percy Hoffman and Friends provided the evening’s musical entertainment. As in past years, Chris and Melissa St-Martin of Danny’s Restaurant & Steakhouse and their staff, with special thanks to Gail Wagner, graciously catered a complete turkey dinner for all who attended.

Riverview resident Cecelia Sawyer, who was unable to attend due to illness, donated wine glasses filled with an assortment of colourful festive candies, which marked each place setting. As well, special thanks is extended to Santa for his annual appearance and for distributing gifts to all in attendance with the assistance of his Elves.

Prizes for this event were provided by Hyska’s Your Independent Grocer in the form of gift certificates and a lovely floral arrangement. Eva Brushett, AVON Representative and Dolly and Greg Currie also provided prizes that were given to the guests. As well, Meleene Avery, Eva Brushett, Joan O’Zon assisted Dolly and Greg with serving the meal to the guests. The event was well attended and the room was filled with Christmas Spirit and cheer.

On behalf of my husband Greg and myself, we extend our utmost thanks and appreciation to all who have helped in any way over the years to make these Christmas dinners and parties a success.
