Canada Army Run: less than three months to go
Posted on Thursday July 13, 2017
OTTAWA - There are less than three months left before the 10th edition of the Canada Army Run, taking place on Sunday, September 17, 2017.
The popular Commander’s Challenge (5K + half marathon), back for a second year, is already sold out, but there is still space left in the other events: 5K, 10K, Vimy Challenge (5K + 10K) and half marathon.
New this year, the Vimy Challenge was introduced in partnership with Veterans Affairs Canada to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Vimy Ridge. Participants in both the Vimy and the Commander’s Challenges will receive a unique race shirt and, upon completion, a special coin and dog-tag medals. Another event, the 10K, was added this year in honour of the race’s 10th edition.
Canada Army Run, presented by BMO Bank of Montreal, is one of the most inspiring events in the country, where civilians, Canadian Armed Forces personnel, and runners of all ages and abilities run, walk and roll together, side-by-side, to show their pride as Canadians and as runners.
Since 2008, Canada Army Run has raised more than $2.1 million in support of Soldier On and Support Our Troops Fund – two Canadian Armed Forces financial support programs that provide assistance to ill and injured soldiers, and military families in need.
Canada Army Run race weekend offers something for everyone, including military displays, BMO Kids’ Zone, live music, sports expo, and a unique opportunity to interact with your Canadian Army.
