Celebrating Canada Day at the branch, our redneck horseshoes ended when one of the toilet seats busted. Not deterred, we switched to washer toss. In the end, Cathy and Lianne took the bragging rights over Zita and I in the final, just getting wet at the end. Those who came for the T-bone steak BBQ were treated to steaks as big as the plates. No one went home hungry. Thanks Zita, Cindy, Lorna, Ralph and Gord.

This Friday night from 4:30-6 p.m. in the downstairs lounge is our regular BBQ with pork chops, sausage and foot long hot dogs on the menu with baked potato and salad. Everyone is welcome, so bring the family.

Our 50/50 winner for July was Colleen Howell.

I think everyone is hopeful that the rain will finally pass and we can get the sun to shine for more than one day. Rain or shine, you can always drop in to the branch and enjoy some conversation with comrades.

You can also rent the upstairs hall for private functions or use the downstairs lounge with the patio and BBQs for free. Just a donation for propane is all we ask. Call the office weekday mornings, 9:30-11:30 a.m. at 613-687-2504.

It may seem like a long time before elections in May but Bob has said he is not running for another term so if anyone has plans to run for office, now is the time to get involved and see what you are interested in.

We welcome those who want to learn and step in.
