On May 25, Personnel Support Programs (PSP) and the Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre (PMFRC) hosted their annual volunteer appreciation event at the Petawawa Legion.  Funded through a generous donation from CANEX, the event was an opportunity to thank the many volunteers who donate their time and talents to support military families at Garrison Petawawa.

The combined force of volunteers are responsible for a wide range of duties.  Some work behind the scenes, some run workshops and clubs, some assist with administrative tasks, and others work directly with clients.  Last year, PMFRC and PSP volunteers contributed a total 10,000 hours.  Their dedication allows PSP and the PMFRC to offer programs that have a positive impact on Canadian Armed Forces families, and make Petawawa a better place to live, work and play.

Five outstanding volunteers were recognized for their exceptional commitment and service to the community.  Rob Sterling was named the 2018 PSP Volunteer of the Year, and Michelle Campbell received the 2018 PSP Award of Merit.  The 2018 PMFRC Volunteer of the Year was Nicole Gaudet,  and Meghan Uzenko was recognized with the 2018 PMFRC Award of Merit.  Kathleen Doucette was awarded a Commander’s Commendation for her work as the Chair of the PMFRC Board of Directors.
