The Petawawa Catholic Women’s League enjoyed/celebrated the annual June Dinner at Our Lady of Sorrows church.
President Julie Mallory welcomed 70 members and guests who attended the dinner catered by Dreams Catering.
President Mallory congratulated and presented CWL Membership Pins to the following league members: Doris McCutcheon received a 60 year pin, a 40 year pin went to Edna Molson and 10 year pins were presented to Bev Grady and Ena Childs. Congratulations to these ladies on behalf of all the Petawawa CWL.
We are pleased to welcome six new members to our Petawawa CWL this past year. We hope they will enjoy our spiritual group and feel welcome. We are blessed to have the following new members: Lauriel-Anne Stepaniuk, Pierette Pilon- LeClair, Theresa Addicott, Jandark Klasser, Debbie Shankland and Lucy Caron.
The guest speaker at the dinner was Chela Brekon, Project Manager for the Local Immigration Partnership (LIP) serving Renfrew and Lanark.
Sheila Recoski and Bev Yakabuskie gave a demonstration of the contents that are included in each bag we donate to the Pembroke Regional Hospital. Each year our CWL donates a large number of pretty bags filled with items for newborns. Some of these newborn items were collected at our June Dinner and will again be collected at our Christmas CWL Potluck supper. In the meantime, items can be dropped off at the Religious Articles Store in the parish hall. Newborn items such as size 0-3 months clothing, blankets, diapers and unscented wipes are used but please no toiletories such as oils, creams etc.
The next CWL General Meeting will take place September 2016 in the Parish Centre.
Wishing you all a Blessed and Wonderful summer.
