Thursday, June 23 was a beautiful night to be golfing and a great venue to show the generosity and support of women helping women.

Thirty-six ladies played nine holes of golf with a dedication to provide much needed donations to the Bernadette McCann House. This well-established facility is a shelter and refuge for women and children who are in crisis situations and offers a chance to start over in new surroundings. Many useful items were donated to the cause from household items to children’s toys as well as monetary donations.

The 50/50 draw for the night was won by Noella Gray. Closest-to-the-pin on #4 was Heather Strachan and the longest putt was won by Gerri Brunette. Other draw winners for the evening were: Cheryl Paquette, Margaret Dickerson, Ronda Cripps, Christine Merrikan and Noella Gray. Many thanks to the sponsor for the evening, Ron VanAlstine.

A reminder that the annual Golf Fore The Cure is being held at the Petawawa Golf Course this year on Thursday, July 21 - 5 p.m with a shot-gun start. The evening is an annual opportunity for local support of breast cancer research. It promises to be a fun event for women supporting women with a ‘sea of pink ‘and will include draws, prizes and great food.
