The Petawawa Catholic Women’s League met for the monthly meeting on March 5 with President Julie Mallory and members.

The Opening Prayer led by Lorraine Tremblay was “My Wishes For You” and also three Hail Marys for the intention of Eva Brushett’s speedy recovery from a recent vehicle accident in Nova Scotia.

The correspondence, Treasurer’s Report and old business were introduced and discussed.

In New Business: guest speaker at the meeting was Lise Bourque explaining the Mary’s Meals program. This is an organization with an aim to feed hungry children one hot meal a day while at school. Today, Mary’s Meals feeds 11 million throughout the world.

In order to continue this program, funding is obviously needed.  Locally, Lise and Richard Bourque have taken up the challenge to raise funds through a bottle drive (beer and liquor bottles). Anyone interested in donating bottlescan drop them off at a local Esso gas station. Thanks to Lise for a very informative and interesting topic.
