Herman Street School students receive special visit from Garrison firefighter

National Defence Fire Service Garrison Petawawa firefighter FR-1 Jordan Regier recently visited students at Herman Street Public School to discuss fire safety in the home, offering tips and advice such as: never re-enter the home for any reason, get out and stay out; find your parents and stay with them, dial 911; go to firefighters for help; and smoke and fire is very dangerous and can hurt you.

In addition, he displayed his gear which includes a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and showed the children what he looks like fully dressed so they aren’t afraid of the outfit and will approach a firefighter if they need help.

The students were also able to check out the crash truck and its capabilities.
