Canadian Military Wives Choirs of Petawawa wrap up fourth year.

A Sunday full of soulful singing and musical spirit is what guests can expect at the Season Finale for the Canadian Military Wives Choirs of Petawawa.

The season finale concert will once again feature free admission so that the joy of music can be enjoyed by every individual and family in the community. You can mark your calendars for Sunday, June 9 at 2 p.m. at St. George’s Chapel located at Garrison Petawawa.

“We are eager to celebrate the conclusion of another wonderful year of companionship, community and exciting connections we have made through singing” says Kimberly Glandon, President of the Canadian Military Wives Choirs Petawawa. “Our ‘singing sisters’ have been practicing several new musical titles to wrap up our fourth year, many of which our guests will know, and will be remembering for weeks after they are heard!”

This year has marked a monumental year for the Petawawa chapter of the military wives choirs.

The group stepped into Bob’s Music, Pembroke in February marking their first ever studio recording of an original choir song entitled “On Guard.” Until the recording is made available to the public in the future, the song will be featured during the season finale concert.

In addition you can expect to hear an ode to traditional Scotland, a beautiful bilingual ballot by Serena Ryder, and a Billy Joel classic, just to name a few.

Guests will also be treated to an opening act by the Intermittents, all included in the free admission. Donations are welcomed but not required to attend the concert, and there will be complimentary door prizes for attendees to enter and a delicious bake sale to serve all.

This season finale will also be somewhat sombre as it will mark one of the final lineups led by the choir’s long standing musical director, Sosun Suh.

As military life will have it, Sosun will be venturing into another posting with her family to brighten another military wives choir. It is the choir’s wish that the pews of St George’s Chapel be filled on Sunday, June 9 to give the grand send off Sosun Suh deserves after having molded the three- part women’s choir into the powerful act it is today.

Local businesses that wish to support the choir with a sponsorship or a donation may contact canadianmwc.petawawa@gmail.com.

As always, members of the community can encourage the choir with their positive attendance to their biggest performance of the year.
