New logistics trucks being delivered to CAF
A new fleet of Standard Military Pattern trucks is being delivered to the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), with more than 500 remaining in Petawawa.

National Defence and Veterans Affairs Canada introduce new Veteran’s Service Card
OTTAWA - On Sept. 11, the Government of Canada responded to a call for action by Canadian Armed Forces members, Veterans, and the Veterans Ombudsman, through his report in 2012, with the introduction of the Veteran’s Service Card.

Grn Petawawa Family Day and 3rd Annual Colour Run
Garrison Petawawa Family Day was held once more on Sept. 8 on the fields of Dundonald Hall. Different activities have been added over the years, most recently the Colour Run, which saw 600 people run or walk two or five kms around the Garrison while being pelted by clouds of paint. Other family-friendly activities included static and interactive military displays, games, live entertainment, free refreshments, a kiddie commando course, the MasoniChIP Child Identification Program, a petting zoo, bouncy castles, face painting as well as information booths.

The Seniors Club is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Most of the activities have started up again as per usual. The fitness program with Debbie will commence on the first week of October. There is a fitness session on Tuesday mornings from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with Jenna Walsh. The fitness room is open for your convenience during the hours of operation. Come in and see us or check out the full list of activities on line. The Swedish Weavers are back doing their beautiful work, and they are looking for some people to join them on Monday mornings at 9 a.m., don’t be shy, come out and join in this activity.

Timmies’ cookies smiling on PMFRC
It’s time to celebrate because Smile Cookies are back at Tim Hortons. From Sept. 17 to Sept. 23, the restaurants offered these delightful treats as a way to fundraise for local causes. Locally, the Tim Hortons on the Garrison as well as the one located on Petawawa Boulevard decided to contribute its smile cookie earnings to the Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre (PMFRC).

Bear Attractants Must Be Eliminated!
GARRISON PETAWAWA – Black bears prefer to forage in forested areas away from people but they may be attracted to populated areas if they have accessible food sources that are simply too good to pass up. The best way to avoid having black bears within our neighbourhoods is to ELIMINATE ATTRACTANTS. If bears cannot access food from our neighbourhoods, they won’t be spending time in them!
