COVID-19 Pandemic Update from 4 CDSG Commander and 2 CMBG Commander
Please allow us to welcome everyone into 2021 and share with you and your families an update on the current COVID-19 environment in our region as well as some recent developments.

Garrison Petawawa CAF Stay at Home Order
GARRISON PETAWAWA - In order to ensure that Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members of Garrison Petawawa comply with the recent Ontario Stay at Home Order issued on 12 January 2021, the Garrison will respect the following measures:

New Chief of the Defence Staff appointed
OTTAWA - Admiral (Adm) Art McDonald was appointed Canada’s new Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) during a change of command ceremony held virtually in Ottawa on January 14.

RCDHU COVID-19 Vaccine Roll Out -
Long Term Care Residents to Receive Vaccinations First
Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) is working with Long Term Care Homes to provide COVID-19 vaccinations to residents during the next two weeks. RCDHU staff in collaboration with partners have completed the first on-site clinic at Valley Manor Long-Term Care Home in Barry’s Bay. This is in accordance with the January 25 provincial government announcement that each long-term care, high-risk retirement home and First Nations elder care home residents in the province would receive first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine by February 5, 2021.

2 Field Ambulance Medical Technician first CAF member to receive COVID-19 vaccine
On Jan. 7, Private Connor Doucette of 2 Field Ambulance at Garrison Petawawa was the first Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) member to receive a COVID-19 vaccine from the Canadian Forces health care system as a result of his Priority 1 designation due to his occupation as a Medical Technician.
