The Petawawa Catholic Women’s League met recently for their monthly meeting. President Julie Mallory led us in Prayer to Our Lady of Good Counsel.
The guest Speaker at our Meeting was Paula Hughes from the Pembroke Jubilee Place. Paula gave an informative presentation of their program offered for young families and the assistance/support they receive.
In New Business: We discussed our annual Christmas Tea and Bazaar which takes place on Saturday, December 2 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the parish hall, Our Lady of Sorrows church, Petawawa. Along with our Tea, we will feature tables of baking, crafts, Santa’s Shop, and small raffles. More information will come later.
On Sunday, October 22 we will have a Baby Shower. This will be a social fun event with food, prizes and games. The time is from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the parish hall. Members, guests and parishioners are invited and encouraged to bring items for the Newborns, sizes from 0 to 3 months old. These items do not need to be wrapped. Donations can be diapers, blankets, facecloths, sweaters, bibs, sleepers, onesies. Please no oils, lotions or soaps.
Each year Petawawa CWL donates a baby layette to the Pembroke Regional Hospital. The Hospital maternity department uses them for new babies in need of help for their trip home.
The Religious Article Store is open at Our Lady of Sorrows church following the Saturday night 5 p.m. Mass and the Sunday 10 a.m. Mass. Many articles are available such as rosaries, holy medals, book, cards etc.
Friendship Sunday on November 6 following the 10 a.m. Mass is hosted by CWL members. This is an excellent time to share spiritual friendship and get to know new parishioners.

A training/information session took place on October 3 for new volunteers to serve as co-ordinators for our funeral luncheons. If you are interested in this capacity please contact Diane Brown. New volunteers are needed. Thank you.
