The Poppy campaign kicks off this Friday, Oct. 27. Wearing a Poppy honours and remembers those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. All funds raised through the campaign are held in trust to be used for Veterans and Veterans’ services. Every dime is stringently controlled to ensure that it goes to the people it was raised to serve. We thank you for all donations received and for wearing a Poppy. Lest We Forget!

We hope you can join us for our Remembrance Dinner being held Thursday, Nov. 9. Tickets are now on sale during regular bar hours but dinner is FREE for veterans (which means all who have or are serving) and their spouse or escort of their choice (no one has to come alone). Spouses of deceased members are also welcome to attend free with a friend. You are still required to pick up a ticket so we know numbers attending. Choice for dinner is roast beef, stuffed pork loin or vegetarian. Extra tickets or those who would like to join us are $20. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Following dinner we will be holding a Candlelight ceremony. It will be indoors and will include the Military Wives Choir. We will lay the candles at the Cenotaph at the end to limit time in the cold. They will remain there until the morning of the 11th. Candles can be purchased at the branch and names provided will be applied to the candle. Anyone may purchase one and if you can not attend, we will place them for you.

Our Halloween Dance is being held Saturday, Oct. 28 from 8-midnight. It promises to be a fun filled evening. Michael Curtis and the Slags will keep you entertained so grab your friends and dazzle us with your costume. Prizes for best costume and spot dances plus a late lunch is included.

Catch The Ace continues and the pot is growing every week. The cards are dwindling so the odds of picking the ace of spades are getting better. Drop by the Legion and buy your ticket or get a group together and improve your odds. The draw is made Friday at 6 p.m. during fish and chips. The winner gets 20 percent of ticket sales and a chance to pick the lucky envelope, hoping for ace. Everyone can play (OLG rules, of course).

Lunch is served Wednesdays from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Different soup every week and egg salad and one other that varies. All are welcome to attend.

Be an Early Bird and pay your dues before Nov. 30 to save a few dollars. You can pay at the bar during regular hours or our Poppy Chairman sets up an area during fish and chips.
